Muslim World Biz @Jakarta - Travelog Day 6

Last day of exhibition - Shopping first

Today is the last day of exhibition. After observing the crowd yesterday, we decided to take a break in the morning and went for shopping at Tanah Abang.

In front of the hotel
As normal days, woke up at 4am and update my blogs. After solah subuh, I read some articles related to my studies and then went for breakfast around 7am.

The main road was so relaxing
Around 8am, we move to Tanah Abang. The first things that amazed us was the crowd in front of the hotel. In turn out that the road (along Jalan Sudirman and Jalan Tamrin - the main road of Jakarta city) was closed for all vehicles except public transports (only bus). So, there are many people cycling, walking, jogging, etc. Take few pictures of it :)

Lets go for a walk
We went there by walking. Not far from our hotel. It is about 1km from it. I bought only Rp600k to shops. We arrived around 9am and not many shops was opened. I was told that it starts at 9am but actually should go there around 10am if you wish to see more variety and more shops.

The first pit stops was a shops that sold ladies prayer clothes. Bought 3 for my sisters and mother. Not sure if it really fit them or not. Hope so... :)

Then went around and bought few prayer mat man and kain batik for ladies (for my team member). My colleague bought something but don't know what it was (can't recall).

The final pit stops after when all around and due to the money on hand was left to only Rp200k, is the shops known for lots of batik shirts (Javanese style). It is the cheapest (that suits our body) compared to others. I bought 4 which cost me around Rp135k. Here are some of the pictures taken :)

Steady...
Around 10.00 am, after an hour of walks and shops, we decided to went back to hotel and ready to go to our exhibitions center. After all, both of us are man and man doesn't shops that long ... hahaha.

We use bajak, a 3-tyre vehicles and the best is that it can reverse.. hahaha better than motorbike. :) and lots more stable too. The cost was Rp15k.

In the Bajak

The final day.. relax bro

Back to Exhibition

We arrive at the exhibition center around 11.30am. It tooks us almost an hour of journey due to the main road was closed till 12pm. So, the taxi had to used internal (behind house and old road with many traffic-lights).

They are many visitors but more on fashion and food. I bought Al-Quran (Al-Quran Cordoba) which cost me around Rp265,500 or equivalent to RM96. If I bought here in Malaysia, that kind of Al-Quran will definitely at least RM200. Inside it, there is Tafsir Jalalain, At-tabari, etc. and Hadith, and stories related to it. So, if you had time, go and search for this and bought it :).

The Perak Govt. team discussed on time to pack
Then, stay at our booth till 1pm. Around 2pm, we went for lunch and met an Acheh guy. I have Nasi Padang with leleh (cat fish) and also ice-tea (es teh). The Acheh guy hope we could develop a smaller version to be used in smaller building like home. He said that most of the houses in Acheh really have frequent disruption of power supply. I mentioned that it might be due to insufficient power supply from their distributor which he told me that the had the power supply from another state in Indonesia. hmm... can't do much.

After solah, I was told that the Queen (winner) of Duta Muslimah Sejagad walk around and will take pictures with anyone wished to do that. I thought I miss that but then had the opportunity when she agreed to drop by at my booth. I was able to take few pictures with her but using my phone. Somehow, my camera, on the hand of others does not work at that time.... huhuhu.. but it is fine with the phone too :)

Large crowd after lunch but looking for food and clothes

Around 3pm, we saw many of Malaysian traders, companies, etc pack their things. So, we decided to join them and pack our things too. We start off earlier than our neighbor but end up finish around 4.30pm - later than them. They already went back around 4pm.

During packing, many visitors drop by asking about our panel, our things, etc... and few asking why we pack earlier... but we still entertain them and shares our system too. :).

Finish packing around 4.45pm, took some pictures of the goods and decided to move back to hotel as already set with our logistics counterpart. They promised to pick our goods around 5.30pm.

Shops at Tamrin City

We took taxi and change our plan. Got taxi around 5.10pm and we went to Tamrin City. It was still opened compared to Tanah Abang. Reached there around 5.30pm. I went a circle on the first floor (I guess.. don't went up or down from the main door) and drop by at small shops managed by a lady call wati. I was lucky as she was the only shops that have clothes for kids and I managed to just getting the clothes for my kids, but also for my mother-in-law and my kids nephew. :). All of it cost me around Rp400k...

Looking for good clothes :)
Wati.. the owner.. selling at good price :)

Nasi Goreng Gila 1.5 (extra everything.. hehehe)

Around 7pm, we took cab and back to hotel... I went to Nasi Goreng Gila restaurant and have the same food but this time I try the Teh Botol. It was good and I had 2 for it. :).

Indonesian choice .. The Teh Botol

After eating, when back to hotel... took a good bath, pray and then sleep as I wish to go to Tanah Abang tomorrow morning before my flight :).

That's end my 6th day in Jakarta.

Muslim World Biz @Jakarta - Travelog Day 5

The 5th-day and 3rd day of conference

Alhamdulillah, the 5th day seem very convincing. Woke up at 4pm, update my blog and perform solah subuh. At 5.30pm, I took some sunrise picture (again... hehehe). Around 6.30, went to gym. This time, I choose the climbing plus hand exercise and choose 30 minutes. Wow!!! this is more tiring, exhaustive, and more calories burned. Almost stop after 15 minutes but fight through till the end :).

After finished exercise, went straight away for breakfast and don't have any appetite. Drinks lots of juice and milk :).

We decided to go there a bit late; around 9pm. Reach there at 9:45pm and sees more people compare to yesterday at the same time. We really hope more people drop by since not many visitors on the second day. The organizer (Jaz and Emilia) promised us that they will send invitation to relevant parties and high-tech industrial related (like the airport and train management and also PLN which equivalent to TNB) via their counterpart (the Indonesian organizer). So we continue to hope :) plus there was other exhibition at the other hall (IT related).
Preparing...

The promised

Explaining the visitor about power system
Yes, there are many visitors today. However, their focus was on foods and fashion which dominates the exhibition hall. But it is fine, at least we can share our products and get feedback from them too although most of it is not significant... It is better to have something rather than nothing.

I was hoping that PT PLN (equivalent to TNB) and Soekarno-Hatta Airport management could drop by. Did informed the organizer. But our hopes remain as it is :(.

There was contractor and few visitors whom more interested on our both setup, the frame used to display our bunting, and even the frame desk.... hahaha.. looks like we should open new business.

May I help you sir?

Oh yes... this is high-tech.

Student from university looking for jobs :)

Asking about the system ... and also vacancy :)

Hope you understand sir :)

IT Exhibition

After a while, we start to think what else could we do. I went to the other exhibition and thought of inviting the other exhibitors to our booth. But, the exhibition is more on prototype of IT R&D done by universities student. There are 2 interesting booths. One is the smart management of electrical appliances at home via Android mobile and the other booth showcase an electrical power system management using their hardware and software which equivalent to what we did but that was still prototype basis :).

Changing profile.. become the photographer for Perak team :)

 Closing time

We decided to close our booth earlier and hope to drop by at Tamrin City for shopping. After all, the visitors only pass by as it is not relevant to them. There are visitors that directly informed us that we are in the wrong exhibition :(. And there are also exhibitors that interested to be our local partners to market our product. One of those wished to call us for presentation with PLN and the other mention that they will include us in their next tender :) ... sounds good for us.

At 4.30pm, we decided to pack our things and closed it for the days. This time, we pack and re arranged the booth for final display :). And that's end of today exhibition.

Satay Kambing

We tried the authentic Indonesia food. You can see it anywhere. The loved to eat satay. Each of us have 5 sticks of satay kambing and 5 sticks of satay ayam with rice. I've milk soda (which I thought was some cow milk with soda but actually crimer with soda... hahaha... don't like it). It cost us Rp96k

Than, back to hotel and get rest for long journey @ shopping tomorrow :)

Muslim World Biz @Jakarta - Travelog Day 4

Friday, 14th September 2012.

As usual, I wake-up at 4:15am, open up my laptop and update the logs :). Then solah and took another sunrise pictures.
Sunrise at Jakarta on Friday Morning

Ini namanya 'Haie' yang melambangkan semangat patriotik
dan juga tempat apa jua demonstrasi diadakan
It is a new refreshing day and our boss seem to be fine after taking a good rest. I when to gym and did do the cycling for 30 minutes and burn lots more calories than the first day :).

While cycling, there was aerobic with instructor and seem it was fun. Just that it was meant for women only :(.

Wira Jakarta - Sudirman
After completed my exercise, went for breakfast and start to replace the lost calories ... hahahaha :).. but honestly, did not eat a lots as usual. I drink juice, yakult (few bottles), and yogurt too. Than, had sandwiches and some buns plus fruits and that's all :)

Exhibit the technologies for high industries

This is our second days of exhibition. We arrive there at 9:30am and starts to open up the booth. As usual, it was a quite day for us. Just a few visitors drop by and there was a contractor asking us about our bunting frame, the price, where do we manufactured it, our desk frame, etc... What!!!! we are exhibiting a solutions, services, software, and hardware for electrical power system.. NOT the frame..... hahahaha... However, for the first half of today, there are two visitors whom like to be our local partners and wish to market our product when there is opportunity related. One of them proposed us to sell our product to the airport management as it have frequent power outage. Hmm... we informed the organizer whom promised to setup the meeting with them... and till the last day, it never happens :(.

The best part, many of exhibitors in Malaysia felt that they are in the wrong exhibition.... hahaha.. as we all showcase a high technologies and for medium to large scale industries.. not for consumers.

Friday prayer

Here in Jakarta (or Indonesia I guess), it is not easy not to perform Friday prayer @ Solah Jumaat.

They will provide a space and lay out sejadah @ prayer-mat, in an empty space (or hall). Not like us in Malaysia, where we can only perform at certain place approved by the religious agencies or related organization (JAIS, MAIS, etc).

I wish, Malaysia could implement similar. ISLAM is simple and easy and every implementation of it should not be made difficult. And also, the best of the prayer is that the khatib was knowledgeable and it does not have any political link (no condemnation on any site) and the khutbah given was related to our daily life.

Exhibition - the second half of the day.

My team member :)
Friday here in Jakarta is a bit slow. Not many visitors came to the exhibitions. Many of the exhibitors felt the same. Not just us, including the Indonesia. Yesterday is more than today. The people that visit the booth mostly was the other exhibitors whom have nothing to do accept walked around the hall.

Is this my chance?

Quit.. need to walk faster
Still not many visitor

Ending the day

Around 5pm, we start to close our booth despite the exhibition closed at 7pm (some says 9pm). But many high industries like us closed earlier. We did the same as afraid of difficulties in getting the a taxi.

Our nightmare in Jakarta starts after leaving the hall. Many taxi pass by but none stop for us. We wait for almost 1 hour and the area is getting dark (6pm in Jakarta is already like 8pm in Malaysia). Even the police make a jokes at us. He asked us the reason that the taxi does not stop. We were thinking that due to traffic jam, they afraid to get summons but the police (but did not says this to the police.. we just say that we don't know). The police than laugh at us and says because the taxi driver afraid to pick both of us whom is big in size like cow (in malay 'sebabnya mereka khuatir melihat kamu macam lembu sik').. We replied silently 'Cilakak lu polisi, kami udah penat ini dikatanya lembu pula'.. hahahaha

So we decided to take a walk to the other side of the road. Had to take the flyover and it is like climbing a small hill. But it does reduce our waiting time. It took us less than 10 minutes to get a cab and back to our hotel.

Nasi Goreng Gila.

We did not go straight to hotel. Instead, we went for dinner at a stall outside of Restoran Garuda, in front of Sarinah Mall. The name of the stall is Nasi Goreng Gila and I order the specialties @ famous dinner which also the name of the stall. Thinking of what and how it looks like, it is actually the simplest way of cooking, you put everything into the fried rice and there you are, the Nasi Goreng Gila. Simple but I think is quite OK for a person whom at that point was very hungry.. hehehehe...

After finished our meals, went back to our room, take a bath, perform solah and play around with my phone for a while until my eyes starts to close... and that's end of my forth day in Jakarta.
